The New York City Council Issues Proclamation in Recognition of ESS Contributions During National Professional Social Work Month

New York, NY (March, 2010) – The New York City Council has issued a proclamation recognizing the extraordinary contribution of Episcopal Social Services (ESS), one of the leading social services providers in New York City.
Issued in observance of National Professional Social Work Month, the Proclamation recognizes the untiring efforts of the dedicated cadre of ESS social workers whose expertise allows them to skillfully handle a wide range of social, community and family issues. The proclamation also addresses ESS’s long-standing commitment to transforming New York City residents and communities in need, as evidenced by its current work in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Brooklyn.
In addition, The City Council praised ESS for the positive impact of its free child welfare and daycare center services, early childhood education, family prevention and intervention and support for working families and the formerly incarcerated and its important collaborations with other community organizations to expand its reach to low-income families. The Proclamation also applauded ESS’s core programs: Foster Care, Adoption and Family Preservation; Early Childhood Development; Educational Enhancement; and Rehabilitation and Community Re-Integration. As a result of these vital and diverse efforts, ESS has had an enormous hand in empowering individuals and, in turn, strengthening the City of New York.
Robert Gutheil, Executive Director of Episcopal Social Services, said, “We truly appreciate being recognized for the work that we have been privileged to do for this great city. We accept this in honor of National Professional Social Work Month and, in doing so, recognize the work of so many of our sister agencies here in New York City.”
