Mary G. Connolly has joined Episcopal Social Services of New York (ESS) as Director of Development and Communications, and will oversee the fundraising and marketing efforts of the 177-year-old, $40 million human services agency.
Ms. Connolly most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Gilda’s Club of Northern New Jersey. During her tenure there she strengthened the organization’s financial status through expansion of its base of individual donors and through new fundraising initiatives such as the Gilda’s Run 15k and the Cancer Survivors’ Walk. Prior to this she was Vice President of Bergen County United Way, with responsibility for special events, corporate sponsorships, and public relations. In this capacity she developed an event sponsorship package that invited corporations to market themselves through fundraising and cultivational events benefiting BCUW. In the first year the package was offered, corporate sponsorship of BCUW events doubled. Ms. Connolly has an extensive background in event management, and has been a lecturer and workshop leader in New York and New Jersey in Cause Marketing and Corporate Sponsorship. In 1999 she developed and taught a class in Cause Marketing for The School of Philanthropy at New York University. She has also served as a media spokesperson, appearing on local, regional, and national television broadcasts. An avid runner and resident of Ramsey, NJ, Ms. Connolly is President of the North Jersey Masters Track and Field Club.
