Visitation Specialist
Reports to: Director/Assistant Director of Foster Care

Job Summary: Responsible for ensuring that the children’s educational needs are met and that they are appropriately places to avoid and alleviate any risk to their educational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and arrange parent/child visits.
  • Provide support to the birth parents to encourage active participation during the visits.
  • Work with the birth parents on enhancing their interaction during the visits.
  • Provide various recreational activities, cards, board games, coloring books, etc in order to strengthen the parent/child bond.
  • Assist the birth parent with redirecting the child if necessary.
  • Record all progress notes in connections on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare reports for court regarding the assessment of the parent/child visits.
  • When available will participate in Family Team Conferences or forward a written report for the conference.
  • Escort the child/ren to visit their parent through the Chipps program if necessary.
  • Contact the child/ren therapist monthly to discuss the parent/child visits.
  • Attend the 20-day conference to establish a visitation schedule for new cases.
  • Attend Parent to Parent Conferences for new cases.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree: BA or BS in Human Services or Social Work preferred.

Development Associate for Individual Giving
Reports to: Director, Development and Communications

Job Summary: Responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive program of annual giving using direct mail, personal solicitations and special events. The Development Associate will have the opportunity to manage and steward a pool of prospects and donors. Data and Prospect Research Manager

Job Summary: Responsible for developing and maintaining system of prospect research and analysis for ongoing development needs and managing data input, retrieval and updates from Raisers Edge database. Family Worker, Family Preservation Program
Reports to: Family Worker Unit Supervisor

Job Duties:

Job Developer

Job Duties:

  • Identify job openings or paid on-the-job training opportunities for prisoners returning to New York City from state correctional facilities and who are currently participating in the ESS Network in the Community Program
  • Arrange interviews for clients
  • Will be required to instruct applicants in resume writing, job search, and interviewing techniques
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule

Case Planner, Foster Care Unit

Job Summary:

Expedite reunification by providing services and advocacy to parents and children temporarily separated because of abuse or neglect by intensive work in parental home neighborhoods

Responsibilities:

  • Meet all the mandates of contract agency and New York State for services to families and children referred to us.
  • Interview parents and children in agency, at home, and in community facilities. Accompany parents to drug treatment programs.
  • Arrange and supervise family visits in home neighborhoods.
  • Maintain cases records according to City and State standards, annotating all contracts.
  • Review cases regularly with Supervisor and Program Director.

Foster Care Administrative Supervisor
Reports to: Program Director or the Assistant Program Director

Job Summary:

Supervises two teams of three case workers each in delivering foster care services to foster children, their birth families and foster parents. Supervises two specialized staff who provide additional supports to families. Assures the appropriate and effective delivery of casework services in accordance with agency standards and policies.

Job Duties:

  • Hires and supervises two teams of 3 caseworkers. Will provide weekly supervision to the Team coordinator of each team. Will schedule regular meetings with each team. Monitors and evaluates job performance, recommends personnel actions, including promotions and terminations.
  • Will supervise two specialized staff who provide additional supports to families.
  • Regularly reviews of all Connections progress notes, FASPs, court documents and all related paperwork to assure compliance with all city and state requirements.
  • Actively involved in attending and monitoring the Family Team Conferences as to attendance, issues addressed and follow up actions required by the agency.
  • Works cooperatively with other management staff in establishing QI and internal systems as needed to meet evolving program requirements.
  • Responsible for following and training staff on all new procedures and policies related to ACS Initiative: Improving Outcomes for Children including business practices and case management responsibilities.
  • Coordinates and maximizes the use of internal and external resources to support service delivery to families and expedite permanency planning for children in care.
  • Required to participate in FCA on-call after-hours coverage rotation. Must cover one Saturday per month to supervise family visits and oversee staff.

Qualifications:

  • Education: MSW, LMSW or will be NYS licensed by 12/08.
  • Experience: Two years of post masters supervisory experience in child welfare and family services required including ability to serve families in crisis, to conduct detailed factual interviews, and to provide complete and accurately timely written reports. Must show promising professional competence through good academic record, professional references and a stable work history.
  • Skills: Must have strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and be proficient in computer use. Ability to engage in duties requiring longer than a regular 7 hour work day and weekend coverage.

Social Worker - Family Day Care (Central Harlem)

Description:

  • Recruit Family Day Care Providers to participate in the child care and/or Child and Adult Care Food Program.
  • Ensure that all prospective Family Day Care Providers are registered or licensed by the Office of Children and Family Services.
  • Monitor family day care homes to ensure compliance with contract requirements issued by the Administration for Children Services and the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
  • Make compliance visits to family day care homes and advise providers of educational, developmental and other activities that would enhance child care.
